Fresh from the Illinois Institute of Chicago comes Kahindo Mateene, a designer who originates from the Democratic Republic of Congo and has traveled lived around the world in Europe, Africa, and North America. I recently came across her designs and am delighted by their use of exhilarating African print and fabric design incorporated into modern and fresh lines and cuts. Even more impressive, the line comes out of Africa and utilizes fair trade, valuing sustainability and high ethical standards.

One can’t miss the multicultural aspects of her fashion line and appreciate the beauty stemming from such diverse influences and inspirations. Personally this is a perspective to fashion I value highly and I hope to see more of Mohadnik in the future! To read more about Kahindo Mateene and her line Mohadnik visit the official site at

Hey I'm Jennifer. I'm a traveler, an artist, specifically fiber, a student, a fashion/color enthusiast, and, sadly for you, a rambler. :) This is just me shouting out to the world amongst a whole lot of other noise...
