No discussion of experimental or out-of-the-box shoes would be complete without Kobi Levi, an Israeli shoe designer. He custom design and hand makes exquisite sculpture shoes (for custom order I’ve read) that utilize a bit of humor and create shoes that look like anything but what they are meant to be. Completely wearable, Levi’s shoes definitely lie in the realm of art with his innovative designs and incredibly clever statements through the shoe medium. The incredibly famous Lady Gaga wore his shoes in her music video “Born this Way.” My personal favorite is his ladder shoes:

Can shoes that are so exclusive and one of a kind be considered fashion or are they purely wearable art? Can they inspire further trends of art shoes or will they simply be treasured pieces for the few and privileged as clothing and dress were in the older fashion structure models? Regardless, they’re enjoyable and stunning works of craftmanship and design.
