I’m a bit behind the times in talking about the Oscar Academy Award Red Carpet looks, but everyone pretty had Angelina Jolie and her leg covered anyway. What struck me about the looks at the Oscars was not the rather predictable albeit stunning and fashionable gowns but instead Esperanza Spalding’s incredible hair.

How I wish I could make my hair do that, let alone pull off such a look. While I can’t say I was too up to speed on Spalding’s look before seeing the red carpet images from this year, I fell instantly in love with her bold statement that she carried with such finesse even on the red carpet. Fashion constantly moves on a cycle and old trends return every seen with revival movements. Could this statement ever be brought back to its full glory as in the 1960’s and 70’s? What a bold statement to have the ability to make with your hair! The afro is definitely a novelty in high fashion today and I so appreciate Esperanza Spalding’s flair that she brings to Hollywood fashion with her statement.

  1. She is amazing. Her hair is some kind of genius receptor, I think.
